Dr M Wallwork (m)

Senior GP Partner
MBChB University of Leeds 1987, MRCGP DRCOG

I came to Yorkshire in 1982 to study medicine at Leeds University and then trained to become a GP in Huddersfield.  I joined Kirkburton Surgery in 2003 I have been a gp trainer for 11 yrs but plan to concentrate my skills with first and second year medical students from August 2015 . I have more recently been a co-opted member of the Greater Huddersfield CCG looking at community service provision. I am the safe guarding lead at our surgery. I feel very fortunate to work along side such a committed and professional team.

MBCHB University of Leeds 2009, MRCGP, PGCE

I qualified as a Doctor in 2009 from the University of Leeds, completing my GP training in Calderdale and Huddersfield in 2014. Following the completion of my training, I felt honoured to be offered a position at Kirburton Health Centre in September 2014. I have recently completed the Post Graduate Certificate in GP education (PGCE) becoming a GP trainer in February 2017.

I am the Diabetic lead for the practice, in addition to being the assigned Caldicott Guardian.

My Clinical Interests include: Joint injections. Ear, nose and throat problems. Diabetes care.

After graduating from medical school in 2006 I returned to Huddersfield to complete my GP training. During this time I worked at Kirkburton as a registrar, and then spent 3 years working as a GP in Halifax. I was delighted to be invited to return to Kirkburton in 2015. I am a GP trainer within the Practice. I enjoy the variety which General Practice presents, however my particular clinical interests are contraceptive and sexual health, woman and children's health. I am trained to fit and remove contraceptive implants and coils.

Clinical Interests: Contraception, Sexual Health, Women and children's Health.

We welcome Dr E Travers as the newest member of our team. Dr Travers will be working on a Monday morning, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Dr Travers will be the Minor Surgery lead at our practice going forward. More information to follow soon...
